Anika – w/ Lauren Early – 21+

Anika a.k.a Annika Henderson is a hybrid artist. The former journalist made a name for herself in the electronic music scene, with her experimental sound collages, confrontational texts and unique way of performing live solo. Her breakthrough came in 2010 with the release of the cult-hit, experimental LP, Anika, which she recorded with Bristol band Beak>, a wholly unplanned affair, which began her on-going investigation into the music, film, poetry and arts scenes. One of her most known songs remains “I Go To Sleep,” a cover of The Kinks’ 1965 classic. The debut was followed by Change in 2021, an album full of heightened frustration buoyed by guarded optimism spread across nine tracks. 2025 sees the release of her third album Abyss. Recorded live to tape at Berlin’s legendary Hansa Studios, the album captures raw energy with minimal overdubs, resulting in a visceral and urgent 10-track journey fueled by intense emotions. With Abyss, Anika invites listeners into a space for release, rebellion, and honesty, creating an album that speaks to the turmoil of our times while offering an emotional outlet. As she puts it, “This is a space for you.” Anika is a founding member of Mexican psych-band, Exploded View and has worked across the arts with the likes of punk legends Gudrun Gut and Beate Bartel (Malaria!, Liaisons Dangereuses), Tricky (Massive Attack), Jim Jarmusch, Soundwalk Collective, Shackleton, Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop, Clark (Warp), PBDY (Brainfeeder), performance artist Melanie Jame Wolf, n.b.k gallery Berlin, Poet Ricardo Domeneck, computer programmer Raoul Sanders/A.I (The Writing Robot. 2017), fashion house Jil Sander and light artist Philipp Geist (composing and performing a live soundscape for a light installation in Tehran, IR. 2015). Her latest work includes a video art experiment called ‘Anika – Alone In The City’ in collaboration with n.b.k gallery in Berlin, and her guitar, synth driven psychedelic experimental live album ‚Eat Liquid‘ (live recording from Zeiss Planetarium, Berlin 2023). She has performed extensively since 2009, with and without band, in renowned venues and festivals across the globe, such as the Portishead-curated All Tomorrows Parties in New Jersey and London, Moog Festival, alongside the likes of Suicide, Tangerine Dream, Silver Apples, and Moebius, Mexico City’s Normal Festival, Tehran’s Tadaex, Berghain, Atonal festival, SKIF St Petersberg, and WWWX Tokyo among others. She interweaves dub, post-punk, and psychedelic, with shadows of dnb and a strong emphasis on the voice. Henderson operates as a writer, composer, musician, DJ, photographer, radio host and video-director.

Carl Stone & Akaihirume w/ Componium Ensemble – Early Show – 21+

Akaihirume is a young Japanese singer whose ear is always tuned to the world’s sounds, which she keeps as materials in her shell. As both an original songwriter and an improviser she has worked with a variety of artists, musicians, action-painters, photographers and more. Recent collaborators include Simon Fisher Turner, Joke Lanz, Akiko Nakayama and Carl Stone. First classically trained, then took a stint as a rock drummer in several Japanese garage bands. She began her career as a singer/songwriter in 2012. Her singing has been used in the soundtrack for the film Dies Irae by Eori Wakakuwa, and is also featured in Songs For A Thousand Duets, part of the, the sound installation by Duncan Speakman & Sarah Anderson as part of the Saitama Trienniale 2016. Carl Stone and Akaihirume began their collaboration in 2015 in Tokyo, and have since performed around Japan, Singapore, the US and Canada. In writing about the recent New York performance, critic Nick Zurko has written: “What unfolded onstage was both sonically accessible and temporally exhaustive as Akaihirume and Stone entered into what could be described as an esoteric and aural courting dance that entranced the entire audience.”

Scientist w/ YUNGMORPHEUS – Early Show – 21+

Hopeton Overton Brown is a recording engineer and producer who rose to fame in the 1980s mixing dub music as “Scientist”. A protégé of King Tubby (Osbourne Ruddock), Scientist’s contemporaries include several figures who, working at King Tubby’s studio, had helped pioneer the genre in the 1970s: Ruddock, Bunny Lee, Philip Smart, Pat Kelly and Prince Jammy.     The Miami-raised YUNGMORPHEUS has spent the past few years building a rap catalog that is staggering in its volume and eclecticism. While many may mistake him for a native of the L.A. and NYC scenes in which he’s worked, YUNGMORPHEUS is undoubtedly influenced by his Florida roots. He delivers his lyrics with a vocal style that’s both cold and suave, and on From Whence It Came, he’s chronicling everyday tales of making it by any means necessary, complete with the potential consequences. His most recent, Waking Up And Choosing Violence, is the record that deserves to push his career to the next level. Galvanized by Spit’s beats, the artist and former sociology student has never sounded more relatable or self-assured. In the past, his naturally relaxed flow suggested someone having an epiphany while lounging in a hammock, but this time around, he’s not larking around so much. He’s in a power stance, standing tall, and brutally honest.

This event has been rescheduled to Friday, June 6, 2025. All tickets purchased for the original March 28th date will be honored.  Weathers cycle through vibes at the speed of life. Text messages to cheaters, actual conversations about mental health among friends, and a shared passion for eighties and nineties nostalgia (coming-of-age comedies, in particular) turn into fodder for their undeniable and unforgettable alternative anthems spiked with pop punk spirit. The acclaimed Los Angeles trio—Cameron Boyer [vocals, guitar], Cameron Olsen [guitar] and Brennen Bates [bass]—infuse their third full-length offering, Are We Having Fun? [Sumerian Records], with gleeful unpredictability. The band initially emerged back in 2015. A year later, they served up the breakthrough single “Happy Pills,” amassing over 164 million Spotify streams and counting. They parlayed this momentum into Kids in the Night [2018] and Pillows & Therapy [2021]. The latter boasted fan favorites such as “Rehab,” “Losing Blood,” and “C’est la vie,” which reeled in over 27.9 million Spotify streams and counting.
