All ticket holders will be automatically refunded.The songs of midwxst feel like beacons in a tempest, a blend of rap, rock and whatever else he needs to bottle up the exact feeling in his heart. The Indiana artist developed his chameleonic style in the pandemic-era hyperpop scene, emphasizing sincerity and transparency in songs like his grungy hit “Trying.” Whether he is rapping over rage beats or penning sweet ballads, midwxst wants to provide listeners a path forward through relationships, identity formation and the internet. He wants to be the voice he wished he had in school, where he was bullied and faced depression and anxiety. Growing up in a military family, midwxst learned to adapt to any situation, whether it was prepping a stage for a theater performance or making music with kids on the internet. He’s emerged from the latter scene as one of its most promising and ambitious voices. And his upcoming album E3 suggests a real desire to expand his sound into something resembling a superstar’s. Co-executive produced by midwxst and Sophie Gray, it’s a tightly-wound concept record and an intricate painting of love and relationships that midwxst hopes will guide listeners in a deeper way than anything he’s done before. “I just want people to understand that I went through a lot of the shit I am expressing on this album,” midwxst says. “And yeah I went through it, and yeah it hurt, but it made me grow and become who I am today. Club Nowhere x Opal Underground presents: Jeffrey Sfire w/ Sappho & DJ Orso – 21+
Portland nightlife staple Opal Underground and recently debuted Club Nowhere, are teaming up to bring you a night of dance-forward, house music, queer clubbing! Opal Underground x Club Nowhere present: Jeffrey Sfire Jeffrey Sfire’s introduction to the underground dance scene and illegal warehouse parties of Detroit occurred at the tender age of 15. This escape from suburba led him to some of the city’s most talented DJs and musicians, who soon exposed him to a new culture of creative riches. Learning by example, Sfire’s taste and skills as a DJ developed naturally and he soon began playing out at parties, clubs and sleazy gay after hours, usually entering covertly through back doors or with a fake ID. A move to Chicago exposed Sfire to a whole other side of dance music history, including “Italo Disco” and genre jumping dj styles of the Hotmix 5 radio djs. He spent afternoons digging through record store crates, meeting retired DJs and developing his musical palette. Having held numerous club residencies, he regularly plays at Cocktail D’amore and Panorama Bar in Berlin, The Carry Nation and Wrecked in New York, Hard French in San Francisco, Honcho events, and his own party Club Toilet and Loosen Up in Detroit, consistently offering a finely-tuned selection of Acid House, Italo Disco, Latin Freestyle, & 90’s NYC House. In 2013 Jeffrey and SOPHIE released the first untitled “Sfire” record on Cocktail d’Amore Music out of Berlin which has become a cult classic. Since then the duo has released 3 more untitled “Sfire” records. He is currently living in Detroit and is one half of the Italo/Electro duo Looky Looky with Ian Clark released on Dark Entries records of San Francisco. Opening sets from Sappho & DJ Orso
