In the 90s things began to move fast with the inception of his Source Records imprint, early productions (including the debut Move D LP สปKunststoffสผ – Source Records, 1994) and the beginnings of a 26 album relationship with a close friend, the late Pete Namlook. Since then, Moufang has become an unassuming heavyweight in house music as a producer for countless forward-thinking labels, a collaborator and a truly original selector. His discography is long and impressive and holds releases on a broad variety of labels such as Source, Modern Love, Workshop, Smallville, Warp, Running Back, Uzuri and Electric Minds among others plus collaborations and involvements in projects like Magic Mountain High (w. Juju & Jordash) and Reagenz (w. Jonah Sharp).Not one to slack off, his live and Dj performances have been on par with (if not superior to) his studio work, pulling from all corners of his diverse catalog to create an experience that attacks the hips and head in equal measure. His releases touch on house conventions but are delivered in his inimitable style, leaving everyone – from longtime fans to the uninitiated— with their jaws on the floor and their hands in the air.

Saloli (album release show!) w/ Patricia Wolf, Lou Trove – Early show! – 21+
Portland pianist Mary Sutton second’s full-length for Kranky delves deeper into her roots as a Cherokee Nation citizen (Saloli, pronounced like “slowly,” is the Cherokee word for ‘squirrel’). The album is intended to evoke “a day in the life of a bear in a canyon in the Smoky Mountains,” with each track channeling a different emotion or experience in its daily explorations. As with her 2018 debut, The Deep End, the entirety of Canyon was composed and performed live on a Sequential Circuits MultiTrak synthesizer – but this time routed through a delay pedal. This refraction adds a lyrical spatial quality, as though “echoing off canyon walls.” It’s music both gentle and adventurous, curiously rooting through soils and streams, in a sustained state of discovery. In Cherokee teachings, humans and animals are considered to have no essential difference – originally, all the creatures of the earth lived together in harmony. Canyon captures shades of this Edenic notion across eight elegant pieces, alternately meandering, pensive, playful, and pure. Sutton’s playing, as always, is dexterous and dimensional, mirroring the dazzled senses of its muse. “Saloli’s miniatures shiver with crystalline arabesques of ice.” – Tiny Mix Tapes “…gorgeous: fluid, warm, and reassuringly down to earth. Wolf’s work sonically unites natural and modern worlds, integrating ecological sources into her minimalist compositions. Using melody and repetition she lures listeners to her hypnotic inner space, conjuring vivid textures and atmospheres imbued with emotion. Her debut album, I’ll Look For You In Others was released in February 2022 on Past Inside The Present and was quickly followed up by her 2nd LP See-Through which was released on the Catalan label, Balmat.Lou Trove is the nom de plume for Adam Torres’ new experimental ambient / electronic music project, which features the sounds and textures of digital mellotron flute to narrate incisive compositions inspired by precious gemstones. Aesthetically and thematically sparkly, Lou Trove makes music for meditation, hearing as seeing, and for adventures of the imagination.

Body of Light – w/ Secret Attraction, Physical Wash – 21+
Formed in 2012 in the wasted sands of Tempe, Arizona, electronic dance faction Body of Light have proven to be a teeming creative force within the present-day electronic landscape. As the archaic drones and abstract measurements of their earliest collections have evolved into to prodigious cinematic pop ballads and darkwave compositions, it’s clear that the two brothers, Alex and Andrew Jarson, are no strangers to blurring the compositional lines that confine underground music. Having worked together and separately over the years within the folds of the co-founded Ascetic House collective, Alex and Andrew have given life to a variety of projects such as Otro Mundo, Blue Krishna, Somali Extract, and Memorymann, and also have unveiled over a dozen visual, audio, and written works under various other monikers. Body of Light is simply another extension of their exercised method of immediate and natural experimentation. After previous releases on Chondritic Sound and Ascetic House including Follow The Current, Lustre, Universal Sin, Volantà Di Amore, and Limits of Reason, Body of Light teamed up with Dais Records for their 2016 LP Let Me Go. This release shows the bands evolved sound from embryonic ideas to fully-realized synth-pop anthems and erotic aesthetics. Let Me Go came full circle under the production guidance of engineer Ben Greenberg (Uniform/ The Men), and each song follows the next with lucid moments of catharsis and romanticism that pull from their self-conscious mysticism and lawless spiritual hedonism. Hesitant to define themselves strictly as a “synth-pop” collaboration, the brothers incorporate a wide variety of components into Body of Light’s sound. They attempt to formulate an unparalleled artistic direction filled with decay, warped tape loops, aging VHS home-movie sound samples from their childhood, primitive waveforms, and processed vocals tinged with harmonic specters.
