CANCELED: LORD SKO w/ LIFEOFTHOM & LANGSTON BRISTOL – ALL AGES!
Due to unforeseen circumstances this Lord Sko show has been canceled. Lord Sko, aka Josh Fersko, is a native of Manhattan’s Washington Heights. Already a veteran at just 20 years old, having dropped 2 full-length projects, the prodigious lyrical talent continues to sharpen his sword on the upcoming PIFF, a sure-shot stoner classic. The upcoming album finds the young rapper expanding his classic NYC sound, with help from producers like Statik Selektah, Harry Fraud, A Lau, and his right-hand man Arlo Walker. Young Sko fell in love with rap music when he was still in middle school. Back then, hip-hop was in the fondly- remembered blog era. Sko (who refers to himself as “the rap Jeff Hardy”) felt himself drawn to the stoner side of blog rap, including Wiz Khalifa, Odd Future, Action Bronson, and Curren$y, who would later become a collaborator. After practicing his craft for two years, Sko decided at age 17 to share his skill with the world, teaming up with then-16-year-old Arlo Walker to create the 2022 album Museum. In 2023, Sko followed up that auspicious debut with the even-more- polished United Palace, named after the historic concert hall located in his uptown neighborhood. With PIFF on deck this Spring, a collaboration with Statik Selektah in the bag, and a forthcoming National tour this year, the future looks bright for Lord Sko. Stay tuned for more. Marie Davidson LIVE w/OTHRWRLD & Peter Sheppard – 21+
Marie Davidson has always gone against the grain. The French-Canadian producer’s first four albums established her as a transgressive force in dance music, with her 2014 debut Perte d’identité (Loss of identity) laying the foundations of organic electronics and introspective storytelling that she would continue to build upon. Each release probed her “dualistic” relationship to nightlife while becoming increasingly saturated in its abundance of sounds, from Detroit techno to Italo disco, finally reaching a fever pitch on 2018’s Polaris Music Prize-nominated Working Class Woman. Putting the pitfalls of club culture and her own fractured identity under a withering satirical lens, Working Class Woman doesn’t wrestle with the existential as much as fling it around the dancefloor. After that, 2020’s Renegade Breakdown broke the mould entirely. With “a will to explore other styles of music,” Davidson formed a band with her husband and longtime collaborator Pierre Guerineau (also her counterpart in the duo Essaie Pas) and producer Asaël Robitaille. A deeply collaborative project, the trio wrote a slate of experimental pop songs inspired by records they would play at living-room afterparties – jazz classics, French chanson, electronica – on which Davidson sang for the first time. Four years and a pandemic later, Davidson’s sixth studio album, City of Clowns, marks a return to the club – but not as you know it. The techno thump and scathing spoken-word delivery of Working Class Woman resurface at points, but the pop structures and melodic sensibilities of Renegade Breakdown also remain. It’s a “strange” sonic blend even by Davidson’s own standards. “It’s definitely linking back to what I was doing pre-pandemic, but with a bit of an evolution,” she says. “I didn’t want to just repeat myself.” The sound and the spirit of the album are shaped, too, by the fact that Davidson has a new antagonist. This time it’s not club culture that’s coming for her sense of self, it’s Big Tech.

The Fourth Wall, Veradas, Miss Honey – 21+
The Fourth Wall: Stephen Agustin grew up in Oahu, and was ten years old when his musician father took him to a B.B. King concert. He quickly thereafter begged his parents for a guitar and soon started forming bands with his middle school friends. He played in various projects until the formation of The Fourth Wall, and eventually moved to Portland where the band continued to find a growing audience while opening for acts such as The Shins, Andrew Bird, Menomena, Band of Horses, and Typhoon. The Fourth Wall self-recorded Return Forever, beginning with recordings Agustin started in isolation during the pandemic. The record features Kasey Shun, Chris Lau, Kendall Sallay, and Andrew White. It is slated for release in 2024 on devilduck records. Veradas: A powerful Portland trio of heavy distortion and fuzz, hypnosis in rhythm. Micro-epics born of the gloom that is the Pacific NW drench you in forever thickening waves of sonic pleasure. Miss Honey: Miss Honey is a five piece nightmare pop band from Portland, Oregon. Through expansive, harmony-rich compositions, Miss Honey explores themes of queerness, alienation, and self-liberation.
