It’s the sound of a cup that has simply floweth over, it’s the sound of an artist who’s ready to lay it all bare in the name of love. “These songs were made when my life felt alive again. This music talks to my romantic soul, the fountain in my heart, which is where my art has come from since birth,” Longyu Gao say of the project. Much like the fountain from which it came, Assembling offers space for reflection — demolishing childhood trauma on “Little Piggy” or reaching anthemic epiphany on the Danny Brown collaboration “Bird W/O Nest” — and out flows a pure expression of the messy multi-facet that make up the human experience.
